Dave,

You are absolutely correct about Apple's GUI capability. However,
Apple still needs software engineers to write applications for
special languages. The more applications they could get, the better
sales Apple would achieve. Apple needs a marketing/sales center in
Taiwan or Hong Kong in order to get into China's market. Hence,
Apple should shift its focus from southeast Asia to northeast Asia.
Besides Japan, Apple seems to provide little efforts in Taiwan, Hong
Kong. Hence, Umax almost dominates the sales in Hong Kong, and
Taiwan, and later on in China. This is an important moment for Apple
to bet on China's huge market. It requires qualified people to work
in that area with endless efforts and investments in order to gain
the market share there. It requires to encourage software engineers
to write applications on its plaforms in order to attract more
customers. The economic among Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China is
booming with an exponential rate, which bring in excellent opportunity
for Apple to expand it base there. It requires to localize its
computer like it did in Japan to fit into the various cultures.
It requires to speed up its new OS 8/Rhapsody distribution to this
area in order to catch the market share. IBM has started its profit
in China and it's going to expedite the growing rate in that
region. I strongly encourage Apple to put more efforts in these
areas to increase its overseas revenues.

Good luck.
