Were the Founders to have regulated the Press to exclude any such "unsubstantiated, speculative, arises out of dubious sources, is shunned by the mainstream media" information or some "professional accountability" limitation, we'd be a totalitarian state already. Thomas Paine wrote quite a bit of speculation "shunned by the mainstream media"... Woodward and Wash Post printed damning articles from an anonymous source "shunned" by the rest of mainstream media, in fact getting thrown into court for it by the administration. Matt Drudge reported anti-Clintonistas favorite scandal, without such values. Etc. Sorry, but without a free-for-all in the media, accountable and unaccountable, there wouldn't be any reason for the gov't officials to account for anything. It's already nearly hermetic.
