My comment was directed toward the housing that leased land instead of owning it... Besides land is the last to go up and first to come down in a bubble. After the last bubble in NH I could own 100 acres 1 mile from a major highway for $30K, today $250K+ if you can find it. It will be cheaper in a few years. So our land prices will move up and down with the market just like in Japan.

FWIW I work for a Japanese company, we just took over payments on property and building where the principle note is less than 25% of it's reported value. The bank came to us, we didn't go to them...
