One other thought. Try to upgrade a 486/66 or 16 bit architecture to 200Mhz or higher or 32 bit and see what it costs. It's cheaper to buy a new box than to upgrade. Most serious users wont buy a HP due to it being so proprietary. And most new purchasers dont buy a bare bones box when they have waited to procure a new toy. Another complete round of PC upgrades is getting ready to occur. What clock speed have you been lusting over? Can you buy it for under $1,000? Stay aware of the macro picture. Dont get hung up on the trees and lose sight of the forest.
