Hi Pam, So you're in Oregon now ? I used to do P-line survey work along the Oregon Coast from Hebo to Coos Bay, a long time ago. Often, we'd stay in Mapleton just around the corner from you up the Siuslaw river. Hacked through a lot of vine maple laying those survey lines for Forest Service logging roads. The D9 Cat drivers eventually built the roads wherever they felt like it regardless of what our surveys said. I saw some beautiful primitive country back then. Learned to build fires in the rain. 12 foot diameter Hemlocks. Elk paths on the ridge tops. Under the green canopy all day long running logs in corks. Grand memories. sigh!
