rose,

It is sad to read of the denouement of the fighter jock trial. I find it absolutely incredible that anyone would fall for their lame defense and phony tears and apologies.

These guys violated their rules of engagement and murdered four innocent Canadians. That is perfectly clear. They represent a type of man that is being bred by our military to be hyper-aggressive and beyond the bounds of decent society. Our military culture is certainly evil, but that doesn't condone the actions of these hot dogs who were acting in a cavalier and criminally aggressive fashion.

I sure hope that justice is rendered in this case. Somehow I'm getting the sinking feeling that the fly boys are going to get away with another one, due to their privileged place in our warrior culture. Another indication of how justice has almost nothing to do with our legal systems any longer.

Umbach and Schmidt are bringing disgrace upon the U.S. military. They should admit their guilt. They violated orders. Innocents died. Their cheesy defense is dishonorable.

My sentiments exactly.
