More on the arrogance and carelessness of the U.S. military:

The Canadian coverage was very revealing -- much more than coverage back in the United States -- about the chaotic nature of any combat. While Americans were reading about smart lasers and astonishing efficiency, Canadians were reading about their boys' lives being spared because the bombs dropped from B-52s and F-16s turned out to be duds that never exploded.

The most telling story was of a Canadian captain who happened to be walking through the command and control center in Bagram as American officers were calling in planes to demolish a target identified by AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control Systems). He heard the coordinates and yelled: "Check fire! Those are Canadians out there!" The attack was being called down on 500 Canadians in a mountain sweep called Operation Harpoon.

No wonder we have so few allies. Oy vey!
