The problem is that VTO report only goes back to 2000, or in other words the only data we have is for a bear market in the nas, which stemmed largely from retailers removing or losing all their money. So of course following newsletter writers will work better since these guys are the whole market now. I would like to look at newsletter sentiment for the 98 period and 94/95. Anybody got that? I don't think the newsletter contrarian signal worked in the 90s much, but that is just from memory.
