Which begs the question........why did he nominate him in the first place? While I have no direct knowledge (this guy wasn't a particularly important person), I suspect it is because someone within the administration recommended him. What in HELL does Lott have to do with any of it? This Pickering thing is ridiculous; anyone of reasonable intellect who reads the facts of the Pickering case will conclude there was no racist activity on his part. Pickering is totally about politics, and it is going to be sheer joy for me to watch Bush shove it down the liberals on the Committee's throats. Boy, they'll be squirming. As to this guy on the AIDS committee, the dems would love to make a deal out of it, but it is history.
