Since my name has come up a couple of times in these exchanges between carranza2 and Ken, I should, at least note my intentions. I posted, publicly, to carranza2, sometime back, my intent to ignore the posts from him which I considered "intemperate." Best word I could find at the moment.

The reason for that decision was simply because (a) the back and forths between us in the past took up far too much thread space, (b) never accomplished anything; and (c) rather than "resolving" things (I knew I would find a use for Mike's (uw) term somewhere), they only increased ill will.

As for the rest of all this, I'm on public record as (a) an admirer of the way Ken runs the thread, (b) bothered by its strident tendencies, it's sometimes high school debate style (well, on occasion, even younger--you're one, no you're one), and (c) concerned that the tendency to label one another as left or right, pro or anti war, patriots or not, courageous or not, smart or not, reduces our willingness to listen to one another.
