THE BEST IS YET TO COME - PART I

If the following results in one or more carriers in China choosing cdma2000, aside from Unicom which has already committed, this could be an earth shattering event. Try to imagine the domino effect for the rest of Asia.

news.xinhuanet.com

This article, which is too long to translate today, is titled:

China Telecom secretly testing US's 3G CDMA2000 standard in (a city in Fujian province)

...... prior to this, many in the industry opine that China Telecom would most likely choose WCDMA since it will have 80% of the global market share. However, Fujian Telecom (part of China Telecom) apparently had tested WCDMA and the results were less than satisfactory, even though they did not say they will not use WCDMA.

...... rumors had been that China Mobile would choose WCDMA as a natural migration from their GPRS network. However, from a technology standpoint, GSM, GPRS and 3G are not compatible. Therefore, aside from WCMDA, Mobile is free to choose whatever standard. CDMA2000's commercial use is superior to WCDMA. Furthermore, from a cost standpoint, CDMA2000 is about half that of WCDMA.
