China Telecom secretly testing US's 3G CDMA2000 standard in (a city in Fujian province)

Is it possible that there is an error here and that they are testing GSM1x rather than CDMA2000? It seems unlikely that China Telecom would opt for CDMA2000 over GSM1x.

For some reason after listening to the Tony Thornley interview on Bloomberg, I felt confident that Unicom is not the company they are talking about as the "mystery" GSM1x trialer. That would be a no brainer and hardly worth keeping secret. China Telecom makes much more sense.
