That's the $64 question. No-one can know what the costs or the final outcome will be. Frankly, I can't see how the US can win quickly just with cruise missiles and carpet bombs. All that will happen is massive killing of the populace and world-wide condemnation. In my opinion, the US military has to be ready for house-to-house fighting and suicide attacks and, in the circumstances, casualties are unavoidable.

It's just my feeling that the US could have gained more and at a cheaper price if it made "friends" with Saddam, like they were in pre-Kuwait days.

Anyway, that's a "forbidden" thought and now we all have to go along with the propaganda that Saddam is a monster who gassed his own people and is only weeks away from launching an atom bomb on New York, or whatever.
