I had a different take on that. He doesn't give any credit to other social scientists who have criticized economics in a similar way or to economists who pay attention to expectations etc. People must have told him these things. That makes me think he doesn't listen to any criticism of his ideas. And when I read Slater's book, I get a similar impression. Maybe that is why he wasn't much of a success at being an academic (not really getting far into the grad student stage). Receiving criticism on your ideas is what it is all about...
