I agree entirely with chomolunga's statement. How can a better world be created when we accept people who commit crimes against humanity? Jacob is entirely correct in pointing out that morality should not be a byproduct of power, but that certain standards, that do exist, are enforced.

Also, IMO, once the standard of accountability is promulgated, the history of the world will accelerate the trend towards acceptance of international law.

I cannot understand, given that Saddam's record is well known, that there is acceptance of him. We have to ask what is tolerable and what is not. How does Saddam, and many others, stand up to that simple yardstick?
