¯And, what is your current strategy on TQNT?®

longhorn,

I am neutral on the stock. I will re-examine in November.

I am afraid that a deal like the Ericsson deal should have a 0.5 probability placed on it. Look at the track record: Qualcomm, Philips, Personal Handy phones... All of those were big announcements.

Also, some have said that there isn't enough capacity in GaAs to support the expansion. But one must be careful, excess capacity can not be used because the chip designs are designed with the process in mind. So you can't ship a design around from fab to fab.

All of the GaAs fabs must win the business upfront. If Qualcomm uses ANAD, then they must wait for ANAD to have capacity or design a new part to use on TQNT's fab. TQNT's customers must be the ones that drive the orders. Let me also say that the GaAs houses cannot design direct replacement second sources that are drop-ins in a high frequency design.

The CEO mentioned ANAD as a PA competitor. He did not say ANAD is creating new competition. ANAD and ITT are the leaders. TQNT is catching up to ANAD in PAs!!

Also, wireless rollouts take longer than people think.

The good stuff:

I am not betting on revenues going down over the long term for TQNT. I love GaAs power amps. They should find themselves in all transmitting RF wireless devices. Many new wireless systems are coming on line. However, I still believe that may RF receiver sections can be done in silicon. I have no comment on the digital GaAs IC business.

Take the analysts for their facts and take the impressions with a grain of salt. Watch the lead times. Watch DragonBoy, and watch the competition.

Rex
