I don't think Bush intends to show that Iraq is a threat. Bush will merely show us that Iraq has not met its UN-required disarmament obligations. That is far, far far away from saying that Iraq is a meaningful threat. Nor should you expect Bush to make any credible claim that Iraq is backing OBL et al. In the absence of these two key elements, Bush cannot get any kind of meaningful coalition. That is why this is so serious. We are going to war on a thin pretext and we are doing it in the face of growing global opposition and without even much US commitment. This seems like a very stupid move to most of the people in the world -- and our markets are seeing the effect.
