He is controversial to the extent the Dems decided they don't want conservatives and so seek to attack him in any way they can. He was confirmed without a single opposing vote to a lower federal judical position. The controversry over him now is do to the political war between the two parties. Its gotten more bitter in recent years and Pikering is caught in the middle. Tim
