Normally I would say that is a great idea, but unfortunately, I'm afraid our oil addiction is so great, we would use our great military power to get "every last drop" from the rest of the world first, creating much pain and suffering along the way.
One reason we want to take out Saddam, is to get our hands on the Iraqi oil supply to help keep the price of oil relatively low for a long time to come, keeping the American people addicted for as long as possible....
