One look at the video of the R. King beating would show that your last comment is an understatement

I think your right that my statement was understated, but I think your wrong about one look clearly showing this. Even after he was beaten for awhile he continued to act in a threatening manner. A lot of what would at first seem to be unjustified probably was justified. However I think they continued past what was justified even taking that fact in to account.


Having seen a beating done by the LAPD right before me, I tend to think they overreact. Recently, there was aired on national tv, a white cop beating on a black guy/teenager at a gas station in a city right adjacent to LA. The guy was secured and the cop still kept beating him. I am unclear whether the cops' excessive behavior is caused by fear/anger, or race, or both. Having said that, I am the first to admit they have a tough, thankless job.

BTW, the incident at the gas station was done in a city that is predominately black.
