There is certainly something evil and slanted involved in the way market data is presented to us.
For example each day a listing will include 10 stocks that are up and 10 stocks that are down- giving the illusion that a person may have a 50/50 chance of having a winner- on a day when 28 of 30 Dow stocks are down.
A fund analyst can well have on the list of the top performers previously unheard of and decrepit losers that gambled on short selling and gold futures while the market was tanking in the last few years. Neglecting to
simultaneously show that the odds of catching a good one is perhaps 5 out of 5000 existing funds. And that if the market turns up , the golden goose flys away.
Its like listening to Carnival con men saying "Come on in, its easy, just shoot some ducks off the shelf
Be a winner - here is your gun with the crooked barrel and miss-aligned sights"
