I believe I have more authority and right to talk about Taiwan than you do.

1) First and foremost, I am a Chinese. And Taiwan is a part of China.

2) I have an aunt, an uncle, five cousins, and a dozen or so nephews, and nieces come from Taiwan. And 90% of them agree with me on Taiwan issue. You Yankees have absolute NO idea that how most of Taiwanese, like a lot of South Koreans, dislike Americans. Here is a story, 10 years ago, I went back to China, stopped in San Francisco to change the airplane, talked with an 80-year old man, a retired GuoMinDang airforce soldier, originally from NanJing, and then went to Taiwan in 1949. He talked about the US soldiers who lived/stayed in Taiwan with such a hatred tone that really surprised me. Before that, I did not expect that kind hatred. I would think the US spent so much money on Taiwan, and the would at least buy some gratitude. Nope, I guess I was wrong.

IMHO, the US should really stop doing some of this kind of loser business, spending the money in Taiwan and South Korea, and elsewhere, but does not even get much gratitude. All those money, even if dropping in the river, could be heard with a loud sound.

I think I am done to discuss Taiwan and Tibet here. No point as I see it.
