CheckFree Corporation (NASDAQ:CKFR - News) is the leading provider of electronic billing and payment services. The company's Electronic Commerce business provides services that allow consumers to receive electronic bills through the Internet, pay any bill -- electronic or paper -- to anyone, and perform customary banking transactions. CKFR has enjoyed a good string of positive earnings surprises over the past several quarters, and its fiscal second quarter was no exception. The company reported pro forma earnings of 20 cents per share, which easily exceeding the year-ago quarter and was better than Wall Street's expectations. Furthermore, revenues improved by +12% to $135.5 million from $121.3 million last year. It's performance over the past two quarters prompted CKFR to enhance its fiscal 2003 earnings per share range to between 74 cents and 77 cents, from a previous prediction of 58 cents to 62 cents. Analysts have been raising the company's earnings estimates over the past three months for both this year and next. CKFR said its business continued to show solid and sustained revenue growth and profitability across all of its divisions. With good momentum heading into the second half of its year, CKFR looks to be moving in the right direction and may leave shareholders with plenty of checks to cash moving forward. . .
