You refer to an HP "product" but I wasn't aware that there was any such animal. My understanding is that they agreed to a partnership to develop some nebulous thing that hasn't actually been defined yet but is software related. Yesterday's press release didn't mention HP at all.

I don't know what you're referring to with regard to a "backwards compatibility issue". I've always assumed that their old hardware products are interoperable with their new. Of course, it would be ludicrous to mix the two so I doubt it's an issue.

Yesterday's press release was yet another clear indication that Brocade thinks their way is the de-facto standard simply because they have the largest installed base. A VERY risky model. Ask the Betamax people. (Are you old enough to remember that issue?)
