The cash flow statement is a wealth of information about the health of a company. The very best thing about it is that there is a very clear definition about what cash is and what it is not. Expenses can be capitalized, Revenues can be deferred, assets can be written off, liabilities can be taken off balance sheet, all of it legally. Cash is usually cash unless actual fraud is involved a la World Com or Enron. There is enough information there for you to do your own accounting of true cash flows to equity.
