I'm thinking of selling small stickers, for each of the major brands, that we Americans can post whenever we get a self-serve fill-up:
"The gasoline from this SHELL pump is 20% from Saudi Arabia, a supporter of terrorism See www.nonterrorgasoline.com for lists of oil companies that DO NOT support terrorism"
... and make stickers that sell on the internet for 50-cents a roll, one for each major brand.
IMO, we will suddenly see ads on tv from Saudi and other countries pleading that they are being good now, and etc.
The truth is, the American Consumer is a much more powerful way of encouraging civilization than preemptive destruction. The American culture and cash is the most persuasive force on the planet. The Saudis, for just one example, are overleveraged, and cannot survive for even a short while if their revenues and handouts to their subjects falters.
The other advantage is that direct consumer action in our interconnected world takes power away from the preemptive political players in Washington, who won't see this coming, and don't have any countermeasures planned. |
