Free On-line Banking & Free Bill Payment Services Now Available
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. and SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Jan. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- At the end of 2002, 22 percent of United States adults were using on-line billing and payment applications. This number is expected to grow to more than 45 percent by 2005, according to research firm Gartner Inc. To keep ahead of this trend, Fifth Third Bank has upgraded its on-line banking product, www.53.com , which is free to all Fifth Third customers and includes free Internet bill payment. The Internet Banking & Bill Payment System is a best-in-class innovation that generates repeating, multiple or one-time payments. The multiple payments option pays several bills at once, while the repeating payment selection sets a recurring schedule. One-time payments can be issued to any payee instantly -- including friends and family -- at the touch of a button!
Rahul Bawa, Vice President of eBusiness, offers, "With Fifth Third's new Internet Banking & Bill Payment System, it's just as easy for customers to pay their monthly cable bill online as it is to use the system to pay their babysitter every Friday -- and without having to worry that their sensitive account information on the check is being stolen out of their mailbox." Plus, the system is free -- there are no checks to address, envelopes to mail or stamps to purchase.
Fifth Third's new internet banking portal allows customers to create, customize and store a payee list by choosing from a roster of common payees, like the local phone, utility and water companies as well as personal payees, such as credit cards, loan accounts and more. For easy reference, each payee can be assigned a nickname. The system also allows for all contact information, including remittance addresses, phone numbers and account numbers, to be housed in one central location. . .
