Golden Eagle Names Prestigious Geologist to Technical Team Expert on Precambrian Shield to Share Insights on Company's Gold Deposits
Wednesday January 29, 9:01 am ET

SALT LAKE CITY, Jan. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Golden Eagle International, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: MYNG - News) announced today that Michael H. Biste, Ph.D, a prestigious geologist located in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, and a pre-eminent expert on the Bolivian Precambrian Shield, has been appointed to the Company's Technical Advisory Board.

"We are very pleased to welcome a professional with Dr. Biste's credentials and experience as a member of our technical team," stated Ronald L Atwood, Ph.D, Golden Eagle's Vice President for Development. "While our focus remains sharp on our current gold mining operations in the Tipuani Gold District, Dr. Biste will be able to contribute his extraordinary insights on Bolivia's Precambrian Shield to help us delineate the potential for our large landholdings in that area. Those properties have given very positive signs of hosting important gold deposits."

Dr. Biste received his B.Sc. degree in Geology in 1973 from the University of Cologne, Cologne, Germany; and his M.Sc. degree in 1975 and Ph.D degree in 1980 in Geology, both from the Free University, Berlin, Germany.

Dr. Biste has 27 years of experience in exploration geology, and is currently a senior consultant for Behre Dolbear and Company, Inc., a large Denver-based consulting firm to the minerals industry.

However, Dr. Biste's focus during the past 12 years is of greatest interest to Golden Eagle. In 1991, Dr. Biste wrote a strategic report on the gold potential of the Precambrian Shield of eastern Bolivia for Newmont Overseas Exploration Ltd. From 1993 through 1995, Dr. Biste supervised the exploration activities of Tanganika A.V.V. (Aruba), located in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, and discovered a new volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) zone 200 kilometers north of Santa Cruz in the Guarayos Greenstone Belt, as well as several primary shear zone related gold targets. Dr. Biste continued his exploration work in the Precambrian Shield between 1995 and 1999 under Essex Resource Corp., a Canadian company that purchased Tanganika. He supervised eighteen geologists and 120 auxiliaries in a campaign of drilling, geophysical surveys and chemical assays that resulted in 30,000 samples in three years.

Golden Eagle currently owns 125,000 acres overlaying the Guarayos Greenstone Belt in which Dr. Biste's work has a great deal of application. Dr. Biste is going to advise Golden Eagle on its ongoing efforts to develop several potential gold opportunities in this important zone, and will provide Golden Eagle with an overall assessment of its holdings in the area.

Dr. Biste joins two other current members of Golden Eagle's Technical Advisory Board: Donald Hausen, Ph.D, a geologist who is the former Chief Mineralogist of Newmont Mining; and Rick Sandri, Ph.D, a mineral economist that is a former Senior Associate for Behre Dolbear and Company, Inc., as well as a former Vice President for INCO.
