Bush I made a big mistake in Iraq, when he told the Kurds, in the north, and the Muslims in the south, to rise up against Saddam, as if implying that America would stand with them, or protect them. When they did rise up, and Saddam saw that the US was NOT going to give aid, Saddam ruthlessly murdered many thousands. Saddam butchered them, and the US just stood by and watched. That really hurt American credibility, of whether or not America backs up it's words with action. Fortunately, George W. has a lot more backbone, courage and conviction than his father. |
