OK, good "live" programming may cannibalize VOD sales, but only those impulsive purchases, which I believe to be a small segment of the VOD market. Good live programming, IMHO, will only POSTPONE the purchase of non-impulsive VOD product.

Yes, TimeWarner has experimented with PVRs. So has AT&T, but obviously, with Brian now at the helm, those are three dead letters. :-)

I think the reaction of MSOs is reasonable & expected. They've spent hundreds of millions upgrading their plant to provide 2-way services. They've put a lot of faith, I believe incorrectly, in VOD. They've got a lot riding on its success. Its fair to say that the PVR represents a big threat to that success.
