This looks like you were referring to more than "the markets" reacting to the speech. Just sounded like you were saying that America did not like what he had to say. The news reports say the majority thought it was well done.
12 years...sorry Norm, the wait is over. Read the President's speech. There is a ton of evidence for exterminating the Iraqi thug. On Feb 5th there will a lot more info released.
Pilots taking uppers? Yes, of course...for many years. In the desert( eight months) it was nearly impossible to sleep during the day because of the heat (lived in a tent). We were flying only night missions. The missions were long and stressful. Upon our return, we took downers to sleep. Uppers to fly at night. After 3-4 days of this we were GROUNDED and could not fly for 2-3 days. These chemicals were purged from our bodies and the cycle continued. I did not suffer, did not freak-out, and I do not have delayed-stress syndrome or any crap of that nature.
Hell, SAC pilots of the 50's and 60's took variations of the same drugs. These guys in your link were, and it pains the hell out of me to say, cowboys. They had orders to "hit the afterburners and get the hell out of the area" if they were fired upon. These were standing orders and they understood those orders. The guys were trigger happy, they screwed up, and they are going down for killing those Canooks. Bummer, but true.
I could go on more about the incident, (I have personal sources very close to this incident) but this is the short story. I could also tell you more about drug usage and the incredible controls that govern their use.
27 years of flying...9,000 hours in the air and some bullet holes that were TOO close. That info is also something I could go on about, but I will not.
I have walked the walk.
I am a type "A" sort of guy...need to work on that.
