Lindy, freedom is not just a function of written words. Freedom can exist without any writing. For example, we in NZ have no written constitution, but I assure you I feel as free as I do in the USA and indeed more so.

Concise is good. Written is good. But actual, real, 3D freedom is better.

Was segregation of the melanin-rich banned after, or before, the concise Declaration of Independence. Giggle...

When did the American aborigines get their Declaration of Independence from your one? Giggle...

When did homosexuals get some freedom from persecution?

Did American women, where freedom was allegedly invented, get a vote before NZ women? Giggle... freedom for women to do as the men said. That's a bit like Saddam's election - freedom to vote for Saddam.
