Bush/Iraq -2:Says Terror Networks Could Be `Forward Army'

29 Jan 13:43

WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)--Hammering home the point that Iraq poses a grave
danger to the U.S., President George W. Bush said Wednesday that Saddam Hussein
could use terror networks as a "forward army" that would use weapons of mass
destruction against the U.S. people.

Speaking in Grand Rapids, Mich., Bush went on to say that this means
confronting Iraq isn't a side issue, but central to the war on terrorism. Many
of Bush's critics have said the president should concentrate on dismantling
al-Qaida before taking on Iraq.

During his State of the Union address Tuesday night, Bush pushed the country
closer to a war with Iraq by saying Saddam has refused to dismantle his
programs to build weapons of mass destruction and has ties to al-Qaida.
