fwiw i run a trogan scanner on my pc that i payed good money for and i know it works..along with 3 av's, zone alarm ( which would have asked for server rights if i was infected) and a hardware fire wall.
as for you getting infected going to strange cosm's the only way i can think of would be if you got redirected and i think thats doubtful.
