Al, <Think about the depth to which this is splitting the US and the world...and Bush campaigned on the premise of being a great unifier.>

It's obvious you think Bush is splitting the world because you disagree with him. Just like Susan Sarandon is acting like she's on the run from Big Brother just because she "dares" to disagree with him, too.

You do understand that more than just a few starlets are opposed to this war. You do understand that there is a way to present a position without alienating people; that there is a way to consensus build and bring people along. This administration gives the impression of consensus building but in fact, is shoving this war down people's throats.

Furthermore, tactics have been used to stifle opposition by making people fearful to dissent. That is why the opposition has remained so quiet and fragmented for so long. However, that scenario is over.....just like calling someone anti American or unpatriotic no long works on this thread, its not working in other venues as well.

No matter how you look at it, a strong argument for this war, justifying the expense and loss of life, has not been made. There are more pressing issues. Those of you who want to believe go for it but don't expect the rest of us to follow blindly.

The only good thing to come from all these games is that Bush will likely lose the election in 2004 if he continues to push his agenda. By that time, people may be so tired of the compassionate conservative, he may lose in any case.
