Do you mean that unless Saddam’s regime is deposed Iraq would refuse to sell oil?

Or, do you think that the USA would go through all this hoopla in order to give a couple of privately held oil companies an imagined advantage, which they would not have had in open competition?

I was never able to understand this ubiquitous recent "War for Oil" argument. Would you kindly explain? TIA.
