<< At the conclusion of the last Gulf conflict , about all one could describe of the then president's stand and the senior staff would be somewhat disjointed , remote and spacey... >>

It's a shame, because our military did such an outstanding job. Very few allied casualties.

But, not following thru and destroying Saddam's war machine, was really dumb. Bush senior claims that he had not negotiated for removal of Saddam, with our "allies", the Arab nations.

What is wrong with this picture? America fought the war to save an Arab nation from conquest by Saddam. The Arab nations stood back and watched, all the while teaching hatred against Jews and Christians in their schools.

And Bush senior felt that America had to kiss Arab ass, while our soldiers were bravely risking their lives to save Arab Kuwait?

<< All senior Bush wanted it seemed was to pull out as quickly as possible , leaving many at the mercy of Saddam's ruthlessness in the aftermath. And then 10+ more years of suffering for the Iraqi peoples. >>

Bush senior gave a good example of how to snatch defeat out from the jaws of victory.

<< Think they might just have a longer term "plan " this time ....or one would hope. Or Dubya will be another one term president like his father. >>

Dubya is beset with "longer term plans". The war on terrorism won't be completed until ALL nations harboring and supporting international terrorism, are neutralized. That means Iraq, Iran, California, North Korea, Syria, Libya, Cuba, etc.
