The only serious problem I have with this post, Nadine, is the reference to "us." The "us" needs to be clearly directed at the Bush administration's foreign policy.


Do you think a Democratic administration would have signed onto, say, the ICC? I sure don't. They just would have said nice things about it, then added, "Dang! the Congress won't let us ratify it. Aw, shucks, fellows. We tried."

But you may regard this as a huge difference if it pleases you -g-

Edit: Seriously, I think the percentage of Americans who actually want to sign on to transnational progressivism is quite small (though somewhat higher in your neighborhood, it seems). This means that no American President is likely to get any t.p.- suported treaties through the ratification process. A two-thirds majority of the Senate means that the Center really has to support it.
