Hi Jim - Did CEO Schmidt buy a big position in Novell?....Maybe.

On Friday a 400,000 buy block passed at $7 and I noticed that on June 3 through June 30 1997, CEO Schmidt sold 108,000 of SUNW at prices between $31-$37. These were options shares he acquired at a price between $4.88 - $8.34. It was reported that he still owns 192,314 shares of SUNW.

Now the question is if he used these proceeds from the sale to purchase Novell stock? My guess is YES! A large purchase by the CEO would be quite bullish for the stock. Perhaps this is the reason for the ralley today.

The source of this information comes from today's San Jose Mercury news under the insider trading section.
