Cheney knew very well the Prague story was phony. It was months later, it wasn't "intelligence". As for grabbing the oil, who do you think is going to service and pump the Iraqi fields? Exxon, BP, Shell, Texaco. Halliburton that's who. These companies will get sweetheart deals far above the usual. They can cut their own deals if Bush-Cheney conquer the country. The windfall profits are enormous. Yet the tax-payers will probably see little return on our 100-200 billion investment. But as opportunists in the oil biz like Bush and Cheney, I do see their rationale. Why let a tyrant have all those billions? We'll take control thank you very much. Texas has been pumped dry so they're salivating for those Iraqi fields. I half support it, if only Bush wasn't using the military to merely enrich the oil companies. Let's hope we the citizens get some real benefit out of them using our money to conquer Iraq, esp since we're going it almost alone with no Saudis or Kuwaitis paying the bill this time. But if history if any guide, the Bushies will use the public money and military to enrich the corporations only. Their campaign contributors. We get more "safety" and perhaps cheaper oil for awhile but that may be about it. And how many of our soldiers will die for this? We'll soon find out.

I don't buy any of the imminent danger from Saddam business. He's been in a box for a long time and he's mad but he's also a survivor. Attacking US interests would be immediate suicide.
