Thinking that judges of the ICC should sit in judgement over American troops is not a popular idea in the actual Center, let me assure you.
Well, it's just terrific to be typing in the presence of an actual pundit who, right this very minute, knows where the "actual Center" of American politics is. Nope, once again, you're wrong. I know where the center is and it's in all those suburban backyards, suvs, etc. who don't take politics all that seriously until it bites them. They tend to be soft multilateralists--better to work with others than go it alone; not cowboys but are giving dear Bush the benefit of the doubt right now because they are accustomed to giving authority the benefit of the doubt--until it fouls their life up--takes away abortion rights, ends Title IX, you know the drill.
The only folk in American politics who are convinced that the ICC and the Kyoto treaty and all that stuff is wrong are your further right types. Who have, to repeat myself, a momentary (hopefully, he types) veto lock on this stuff because Gore kept his weapons in the shed in Florida in 2000. |
