re: 1xEV-DV trials later this year What's really amusing, is that they're still working to hammer out reverse link specifications for the standard in 3GPP2. Plus, there are component technologies, that are quite theoretical and reliant on next generation technology, that are study items requiring further evaluation and simulation. They bandaged the specification together and shipped off what was necessary to apply for IMT2000 approval, but it's all still quite ragged in the working groups... I first thought this antic was intended to dissuade carriers from do, but any 3GPP2 member that hadn't slept through every meeting for the past 2 years would know better. Claims of 2003 dv handsets and trials are so utterly implausible - to cdma carriers as well - that NOK's target audience must be largely uninformed... analysts? Is this cover for present 1x failures?
