I believe it is one of the responsibilities of government, local, state and federal, to support the arts, both emotionally and financially. I meant support not fully underwrite. I'm sure your view differs, but this is mine.

As for Tonya's swipe,"propping up the market", the market is humanity, so yes, it props the market by supporting humanity.
