I have a good friend who has a friend in the Cabinet. They met in DC somepoint last year and what Gergen said is exactly what my freind-of-a-freind cabinet person claimed. Bush percieves himself as being on a mission, preserving the day-to-day way of life in America is his almost exclusive focus and he is willing to risk the 2004 election if he needs to take unpopular action.
