You are of course right in saying Arabs have the right to elect and be elected in Israel - I have not expressed myself well.
What I mean is that Israel is a Jewish state and apparently all other laws have to conform to this basic principle:
Principal Features of the Laws:
An ordinary law cannot contravene the provisions of this Basic Law except for a worthy purpose and in a manner conforming the values of the State of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state.

Given this condition, can you really say that the non-Jewish population can ever govern?
I am really curious as to what will happen in a decade or so, when the Arab population will reach a level where they will be deciding who gets elected to govern in Israel. I wonder what will happen then...
Where, in the Arab world, is Hebrew given equal status??
Nowhere, possibly because there is no significant Jewish minority in any Arab country. Nor in any other country, for that matter.
If they had done something illegal, I would likely have immediately called the cops on them just to get them in trouble and out of the neighborhood (hopefully to prison)..
My my... Remind me never to cross you :-)
As compared to sending explosive laden donkeys into Israeli marketplaces to explode??
I am not sure if the women and kids blown up by Israeli bombs were the same people who organized the suicide bombings. Neither can I say it is OK for a state to use crushing military power on civilians, no matter what sort of terrorism it faces.
Spain and France did not kill civilians in Basque region. UK did not bomb civilians in Ireland. I cannot agree with your statement that it is OK for Israeil to do so because they are losing their citizens to terrorism.
I figure I have to ask why his kids are more sacred that Israeli kids??..
Definitely NOT! Life is precious no matter the skin color, nationality, or religion.
There are two considerations here: (1) Terrorists target civilians. This is why they are bad guys. However, a democratic state CANNOT do this and retain legitimate use of power in the eyes of its own people, let alone the world. (2) Sheer numbers talk. The ratio of Palestinians to Israelis killed used to be 20:1. Recently it has apparently gone down to 7:1 or so. Still, there are a hell of a lot of Palestinians being killed than Israelis. Do you think those are all terrorists?
Intolerance by one group is reaping intolerance from the other. The extremists on either side are running rough shod over the moderates.
I agree completely. It is very sad...
Muhammed Atta's as well.. (for remaining in denial about what their son did)..
I didn't know stupidity was a capital crime :-) |
