nothing to say they would support unilateral invasion from the US without UN Security Council backing.

And nothing to state that they wouldn't if the UNSC utterly loses all credibility in their eyes..

It was a warning to the UNSC to do their job so the US doesn't need to do their job for them unilaterally...

And more importantly, it was a warning to France and Germany that they will be held responsible for castrating the UNSC and potentially leading to the dissolution of the UN.
