Short the lawyers?
Heard on the radio that one of the oldest SF law firms, Brobeck Phleger et al, doesn't have cash to meet payroll next week. They grew from 100 to 900 with all partners at $1 mill minimum with the dot.bomb bubble. Guess there wasn't enough BK work to keep them afloat.

The issue of tort reform looks like it is also heating up. The trial lawyers are the big money behind the demos and so the elephants want to stomp them. The money to the lawyers has gotten up to 2% of gdp. Amazing. I've got somewhat mixed feelings since there are many businessmen out there that would rape and pillage the little old ladies (Keating/Lincoln S&L, etc) if it weren't for punitive damages and the prospect of jail. But some stuff like asbestos should probably be settled thru a workers comp type of setup not the billionaires lawyers club.
