lj - I agree, I said "to the limit". 911 was a bad move for them given the casualties.
OTOH, I keep repeating that we are, in Southern Europe, pretty aware of the fundamentalistic problems since 1960 and can use help of our friends. (In other subjects than Stay-Behind or Gladio).
US "discovered" that problem only lately, and I can't help ROTFLMAO when I hear in the State of the Union Address that the US books success in arresting fundamentalists in "the whole World".
As if the police and intelligence corps of Britain, France, Spain and Germany were agencies of the US (back to Stay-Behind and Gladio).
Rests, that I agree, fundamentalists' goals are the destruction of all the values of the "West". For what purpose? I don't get it. If they would succeed to destroy the "West" they would lose all their meaning.
Anyway, too many fingers in the ME cookies jar to have a clear view. Always has been.

I am not advocating doing nothing. I just consider this unfair that the US expelled the Brits and the French from the ME in the 50ies (Suez expedition) and after half a century of mismanaged ME policy calls the French "old Europe".
"Toady" Blair is another issue.

I better go back to the salt mines.
