dearest Steve
would be outstandingly nice if You could help me out
I just got charged for a daytrade that I made in Dec for a stock dividend .
I didnt know that on Ex Dividend days when one is short a stock regardless if just minutes one has to pay the actual cash dividend-never happened to me in the last 10 years ( The Ex-Dividend Date: The date a stock trades without dividends. This is two business days before the record date.)
(Dividend Debits: If you are short a stock at the time of a record date, you owe the amount of that dividend and it will be debited from your account.)
what would be so lovely is if You could educate me about anything in regards of professional approach of dealing with this scenario when shorting larger blocks for momentum trades-do I just stay out that day?-how are the detailed rules about this and how do You operate this-thanks so much for Your very valuable time and all Your support-wish You a lovely weekend and an outstanding upcoming trading week
God bless you
Mahalo
