For any thinking that there could have been terrorist activity involved in this tragedy, because Israeli astronaut, Colonel Ramon, was on board. . . . there is no weapon available to terrorists that could track a target at Mach 6 and reach it at the altitude of more than 200,000 feet.

A surface-to-air missile attack on the shuttle would be like shooting at an airliner with a BB gun. To say it more clearly, there is no conceivable way that terrorists could have brought down the space shuttle.

There is a chance that the tiles lost integrity, which would have caused a fire. The more likely cause of this event is the loss of the hydraulic system, which would control the all-important attitude. Should hydraulic power be lost, there would be no way to maintain this attitude. If this were to happen, the shuttle would roll, tumble and break into many pieces.

This was the oldest shuttle of the fleet, but it had just returned from extensive renovations. Sould something have been overlooked during these repairs?

The president will be speaking at noon EST.
